Chris Brown to be Inducted in the Norfolk State University Athletics Foundation Hall of Fame
Accolades continue to pour in for multi Olympic medalist Chris Brown. He is set to be inducted into the Norfolk State University Athletics Foundation Hall of Fame June 6 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel.
Last summer and winter, Wemyss Bight was the first to recognize Olympic medalist Chris Brown, who is from that settlement, for his significant accomplishments on the world stage.
His photo was placed on the Wall of Fame at the Rock Sound airport and another picture was hoisted on a street corner in his honor in Wemyss Bight.
In March of 2009 Brown was inducted into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Hall of Fame. This time around Brown will be lauded for his accomplishments while at Norfolk between 1999-2001 when he became a two-time Division I All-American in the 400 meters (2000-01). He still holds school records in the 400 meters, 500 meters, 4x400 meter and sprint medley relays.
The other inductees are former football players Darius Blount, Ricky Lee Ray, James Roe and Aaron Sparrow; basketball players Eugene Cunningham, Norma Knight Evans, Lisa Rice and Jennine Tanks; track athletes Chris Brown, James Johnson and Joseph Thornton; and wrestler James Lee.
