Sands Secures Bronze in Triple Jump for The Bahamas

The Bahamas joined Trinidad and Jamaica, to become the third English Speaking Caribbean country to secure medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, key components of what is developing to be a dominant performance for the region in Athletics on the world stage.

The medal for the country came from Leevan Sands, who captured bronze in the Triple Jump final on Thursday August 21, 2008. Sands set a new national record with a distance of 17.59m.
