Eleuthera Softball Association Playoffs to Begin Friday - Sept. 19
Saturday, Sept. 13th saw the last of the regular season action in The Eleuthera Softball Association (ESA) as final matches wrapped up an exciting series.
The excitement continues as the Playoffs get going this coming Friday evening (Sept. 19th) when four teams begin the best ‘three out of five’ line-up of games. The Twin City Destroyers with star pitcher Edney ‘The Heat’ Bethel will clash with the Rock Sound Punishers and their pitching talent Paul Knowles. On the same evening the Savannah Sound Golden Warriors, featuring Rodwell ‘Kung Fu’ Knowles on the mound will meet head to head with the Builder’s Square Jets and their ace with the ball, Edmund Bethel.
Here are the present standings in the Men’s division at the end of the season:
1. Twin City Destroyers
2. Savannah Sound Golden Warriors (formerly DHL)
3. Builder’s Square Jets
4. Rock Sound Punishers
5. Governor’s Harbour Big Tuna
6. Palmetto Point Unique Hornets
With just two ladies teams in the 2008 regular season, their final games will be seen during the championship round. Pennant winners were the Lord Byron’s Angels (Governor’s Harbour and James’ Cistern players), with the Eleuthera Stars (Palmetto Point and Savannah Sound players) coming in second.
According to PR Officer, Mr. André Butler, the best overall Men and Women’s team resulting from the Championship matches should compete in the upcoming National Round Robin competition being held in Nassau October 30th thru November 2nd.
