THREE PROMOTED TO SENIOR POSITIONS AT FIRSTCARIBBEAN
Nassau, Bahamas, June 18, 2010. FirstCaribbean International Bank recently promoted Mr. Marvin Clarke to the position of Head of Corporate Banking; with Sonia Rutherford and LiaCarla Glinton being promoted to Senior Corporate Managers. These three young Bahamians are now an integral part of the bank’s Corporate Banking Team.
Corporate Banking Director, Mr. Peter Horton said, “Marvin, Sonia and LiaCarla have proven themselves to be talented bankers. As we seek to enhance the level and quality of service we deliver, I am delighted that we are able to move experienced Bahamians into more senior positions within the Corporate Team.”
In this new role, Mr. Clarke is responsible for ensuring that the Unit provides world-class service over a full range of financial solutions to business clients. He is also responsible for driving the direction of a team of relationship managers.
Mr. Clarke joined FirstCaribbean in 2007 as Manager, Corporate Business & Client Relations with responsibility for the management of the bank’s relationships with the Government of The Bahamas and private corporations, a position he held until his recent promotion. Mr. Clarke holds a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics, both from Florida International University; and an Associate of Arts Degree in Economics from the College of The Bahamas.
In their roles as Senior Corporate Managers, Ms. Rutherford and Ms. Glinton manage a complex portfolio of high-end corporate clients including governments, multi-national and regional conglomerates in diverse business sectors such as service, manufacturing, wholesale, retail and real estate.
Ms. Rutherford’s banking career started in 1979. Since then, she has held several key positions until 1995 when she joined the Corporate Banking Unit as a part of its relationship management team. Ms. Rutherford last held the role of Manager, Corporate Business and Client Relations. She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Nova Southeastern University, a Bachelors degree in Business Management from Omega College, and is an Associate of the Bahamas Institute of Bankers.
Ms. Glinton joined the banking industry in 1995 and held various positions in Retail and International Banking before undergoing over two years of comprehensive management training at FirstCaribbean locations in Grenada, Barbados and Belize. In 2003, she returned to The Bahamas to take up the position of Corporate Relationship Manager, a position she held until recently. Ms. Glinton holds an MBA from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance from The College of the Bahamas.
