(Nassau, The Bahamas) - A new horizon will be met on the blue waters of the Bahamas as Adventures Unlimited Bahamas and Jerome Thompson attempt to circumnavigate the islands of Nassau and Paradise Island on Saturday July 11, 2009.   If successful, he will be the first visually disabled person to be recorded accomplishing this feat in the Bahamas.

The venture is scheduled to begin at 10am at Hurricane Hole Marina, located on Paradise Island with a brief pass by at noon, at the Junkanoo Summer Festival on Woods Rodgers Wharf.   It will end at the Hurricane Hole Marina3pm, followed immediately by an official ceremony.  Mr. Thompson and his team have invited the public to witness the historic moment.  This event will be the inaugural launch of Adventures Unlimited Bahamas, a non-profit organization.

Adventures Unlimited Bahamas was licensed on 8th January, 2009 as a non-profit organization in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.  This non-profit entity will promote, encourage and support persons with disabilities, regarding their pursuit of various endeavors that might seem to be impossible.

The venture is a solo boat trip which is being undertaken by Mr. Jerome Thompson, the organization’s president and originator.  As a person who is physically unable to see, Mr. Thompson is endeavoring to showcase that persons with disabilities in The Bahamas, no matter what their limitations, can rise to and conquer any challenge once determined and committed.

The president and entrepreneur was inspired by persons internationally with different types of disabilities who have accomplished various endeavors in spite of their various limitations; living up to the adage, “conceive it, believe it, achieve it.”  Persons of any category of disability in The Bahamas will be assisted by the organization, in respect to accomplishing various endeavors, once they have dared to dream and have committed themselves to pursue “the impossible dream.”

Mr. Thompson’s history-making venture is supported by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation, The Bahamas National Council for Disability, Sir Durward Knowles and the Independence Celebration Committee.  Mr. Thompson acknowledges his attempt would not be possible without the assistance given to him by the Almighty God, his trainer, Captain Glen Bain, Harbor Bay Marina Dock Master Lundy Robinson, meteorologist Greg Thompson and businessman Peter Roker.  Additionally, the venture received sponsorship from Hurricane Hole Marina, Bank of The Bahamas, Scotiabank (Bahamas) Ltd, Robin Hood Enterprises Ltd. Lil Giant Discount Lumber and Building Supplies and  Esso Bargain City Service Station.
