Postmaster General Retires After 44 Years of Service
Nassau, Bahamas – Postmaster Godfrey Clarke was praised Wednesday for his compassion, productivity and leadership skills during a retirement ceremony in his honor at the Post Office Department.
After 44 years of employment in the Post Office Department, Mr. Clarke officially retires on Thursday, April 30. During the ceremony, employees representing Post Offices throughout New Providence and the Family Islands thanked him for his dedication and presented him with various gifts of appreciation.
Deputy Postmaster General Leslie Cartwright described Mr. Clarke as an individual with an “unassuming” personality and one who “handles stress pretty well”. He said Mr. Clarke was loyal to the service, committed to his work and held a “great” love for the department.
Mr. Clarke expressed his appreciation to the staff of the Post Office Department, noting that he enjoyed his time with them. He went on to recall some of the many accomplishments during his nine-year tenure as Postmaster General, including the provision of new boxes at the East Hill Street location, in West End, Grand Bahama and in the Family Islands.
