Marlin Awards Releases First Ever Nominee CD
Tweet
Nassau, Bahamas - The Executive Board of the Marlin Awards announces the release of its first ever CD entitled “Marlin Nominee 2008 Vol. 1”. This compilation of original material features eighteen (18) of the top Caribbean Gospel artists and songs, which have all been nominated for a Marlin Award this year.
According to Marlin Awards President Kevin Harris this project has been in development for quite some time. “The inspiration to compile and release a Marlin nominee CD came to us several years back after seeing how well this concept has worked for some of the other major awards such as the Grammy Awards, the Stellar Awards and the Dove Awards. We felt that this would also be a great vehicle to not only showcase and promote some of the most outstanding material nominated this year but the CD would also be a great opportunity for retailers, promoters, consumers and lovers of Caribbean Gospel to finally be in a position to secure a variety of their favorite hit songs on one CD”.
The album features several top Caribbean Gospel hits including “Ketch A Fire” (The Prodigal Son featuring Jason Mighty), “He Is” (Nigel Lewis), “Higher Ground”(Simeon Outten), “I Want to Know” (Monty G featuring Positive), “Forever” (Jumelle), “Hallelujah” (Jadee), “Footprints in the Sand” (Ta Da), “Triumphal Entry” (Christafari feat Sherwin Gardner & Mr.Lynx), “Rise Up” (Troy Anthony), “Evidence” (Vision), “Gonna Make it” (Four Kornerz), “Jehovah Jireh” (Kristine Alicia) and “Your Gonna Reap What You Sow” (Mikey Spice).
The album was designed by Jamaican award winning graphic artist & photographer Andrew Grey who has designed for Stitchie, The Prodigal Son & DJ Nicholas. Grey is also a nominee this year for “Packaging of the Year” for his design work for “Real Life Story” (Stitchie) and “Song From My Midnight/The Break of Day”(The Prodigal Son). The Marlin Awards also plan to release a second volume (Marlin Nominee 2008 Vol. 2) sometime in March, just in time for this year’s award. Copies of the album can be purchased from local Christian bookstores and record stores including the Juke Box and online from www.gospelreagge.com .
The Marlin Awards will be held during Marlin Weekend 2009, scheduled to be held March 26-29 in Nassau, Bahamas under the banner “Gospel in Paradise”. This event is expected to attract hundreds of recording artists, songwriters, producers, managers, retailers, radio announcers and music fans from throughout the Caribbean as well as from the United States, Africa, Canada and Europe.
