Music great reprises classics in new CD release

(NASSAU, Bahamas) -- Decades of the best Bahamian songs have been reinvented and compiled for today’s listeners in the new CD Fresh Paint, which will be released September 30.

Fresh Paint is the result of the musical mind of Fred Ferguson.  In The Bahamas’ music industry, Mr. Ferguson is recognized as being among the most talented musicians and composers of the modern era.  For Fresh Paint, he searched through countless original songs to identify his list of the most iconic Bahamian songs in history.  After churning them through his creative process, he has alchemized standards of bygone eras and freshened up more modern tunes to develop a CD that can be labeled as an instant classic.

“I am excited because this project breathes new life into our great songs,” Mr. Ferguson said. “Each of them represents a certain period in our musical history, but at the same time, they are all timeless. I believe this CD reinforces that classic quality of these songs, and introduces these hits to new generations.”

Charles Carter, a radio personality and an authority on Bahamian music, highly recommended the CD.

“I grew up in my father's music shop here in Nassau and shared his enthusiasm for Bahamian music,” he said. “I therefore take pleasure in informing you that his CD, Fresh Paint, is the definitive collection of original Bahamian music ever assembled for one CD project. The selections are some of the best songs written and performed by Bahamians ever. Fresh Paint features longtime favorites such as Bahama Rock and Shotgun Wedding by legendary composers Ronnie Butler and Eddie Minnis.  Other songs include Bangalay, Out on the Beach, Send Him Home and Funky Nassau.

The CD will be available online at iTunes, amazon.com and at music stores throughout The Bahamas beginning September 30.
