Spanish Wells Brings Double Gold Back from the Austin Knowles Softball Tournament in Nassau.

(Spanish Wells, Eleuthera) - Spanish Wells All Age (SWAA) captured both the male and female titles of the 2011 Austin Knowles High School softball tournament held in New Providence over the weekend.
The tournament got started at Baillou Hills Sporting Complex in New Providence on Thursday October 20th and wrapped up with the championships on Saturday.
The tournament named for Eleutheran softball legend, Austin Knowles of Palmetto, also saw previous winners Central Eleuthera High School males, capture 3rd place.
Austin Pinder of Spanish Wells also received the best center fielder award for the tournament and Kayston Pinder received the tournament's best pitcher award.

Mr. Knowles is slated to be inducted into the National Hall Fame during a special ceremony held at Government House in New Providence on November 5th.
The victory for Spanish Wells, adds another feather to the cap of the school, who in recent years have shone on the national stage in several areas.

Jansen Perry coached the girls at the tournament and P.E. Teacher Delaeno (Spelling corrected from Delano) Cartwright who has previously won this tournament including the double title with NGM High School in Long Island, coached the Spanish Wells boys.

Standings (after the dust settled): Boys Division - Gold, Spanish Wells All Age; Silver, Nassau Christian Academy; Bronze, Central Eleuthera High School. Girls Division - Gold, Spanish Wells All Age; Silver, CV Bethel; Bronze, Andros. The SWAA girls team won in a nail biter against CV Bethel which saw both teams tied in the final inning, until SWAA brought home their final run, racking up 11 runs to 10. The SWAA boys team won 7runs to 5 against NCA.
