Our Rental Van Broke Down And Wonderful People Stopped To Help Us Out

Dear Editor:
 
I vacationed in Palmetto Point with 7 girlfriends from April 4-11. Our rental van broke down and wonderful people stopped to help us out. They went out of their way to help us, as all the people that stopped when our wheel came off our van. We were lost and they had us follow them to Captain Jacks. We just loved our vacation and had a wonderful time... The family would not take any money but requested Obama t-shirts. I got t-shirts for the whole family and Obama's autobiography.

I had a similar experience... in 2006 on my first trip back to Eleuthera since spending time there during the summers of 1968 and 1969, we got a flat tire (shredded) by the Gov. Harbor airport... and found no jack in our SUV!

We were on our way to GH to sail and had no way to contact the person we were meeting.

I walked to the airport and Mr. Nixon (Arthur Nixon?) was incredibly kind & helpful -- he called up to the place where we had rented our truck, took a jack from one of his own rental SUVs, and we slowly drove the truck to his parking lot where he had the tire changed for us.

This was exactly the kind of wonderful help, etc., I remembered from nearly 40 years ago and is an example of why I love Eleuthera and the great people I've met there as much as any place in the world.

I can't wait to get back for our next visit.

I haven't been to Eleuthera in over 20 years, but will I always have fond memories of the friendly people and beautiful beaches. Can't wait to get back!

We're from central North Carolina but vacation in Eleuthera every year. We consider it our home away from home and love it with all our hearts. The people of Lutra are so kind and have been so good to us. You're all in our thoughts and prayers and may God bless you all and Lutra through this difficult time...
