(Nassau, The Bahamas, BIS) - RBDF Band Tours Junkanoo Summer Festivals Junkanoo Summer Festival audiences in several islands have been treated to Royal Bahamas Defense Force Band performances as the band carries out an island hopping expedition.

The annual festival takes place on eight islands this summer, and the Defense Force Band is scheduled to perform on almost all of them.

On Saturday, July 26, Nassau’s festival participants saw the band deliver its special brand of marching and dancing entertainment. It was the latest in a string of JSF performances the band made throughout the country.

“Already we have performed in Bimini, Abaco, Eleuthera, Exuma, and New Providence,” said Matthew C. Rolle, drum major.

“We are looking forward to Grand Bahama really soon.”

In addition, the several regattas and homecomings throughout the islands will also take the band to Andros, Cat Island and San Salvador over the summer, which is always the band’s busiest travel period.

Wherever they go, they give a rousing performance that incorporates Bahamian dances into their marching performance.

“We enjoy ourselves,” Rolle said. “We love what we do. We marines, always put our best foot forward, especially when it comes to tourism. It is our joy to perform for our tourists. They are the lifeblood of our country.”

Wherever visitors are present, he said, the band’s plan is to get them involved.

They aim to leave a lasting impression on guests that would make them want to promote the Bahamas to their friends and family.

The scheduled acts for July 31, Nassau’s final Junkanoo Summer week, include Bishop Lawrence Rolle, Geno D and Basil “BJ” Smith.
