(Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera) - The Ministry of Tourism's Junkanoo Summer Festival has come to Eleuthera and if Saturday night was any indication, it was long overdue.

Hundreds of cars crowded the center of Governor's Harbour from Cupid's Cay to Eleuthera Supply as persons from across the island were out on the evening to partake in the festival at Bay Front Park.

Local Ministry of Tourism officials expressed how very pleased they were with the turnout and some vendors, caught somewhat by surprise, told of having to restock on supplies several times during the evening to satisfy demand with others commandeering family and friends as addiitional helping hands.

It was the second showing of this festival in its first year on Eleuthera and so far it can only be said to be a welcomed success for the island. It all started on July 3rd in Tarpum Bay, South Eleuthera and the final day is scheduled for July 24th, also in Governor's Harbour.

It seemed like everyone was out to enjoy the atmosphere

On Saturday, crowds witnessed The Cigatoo Warriors Junkanoo Group rushing along the picturesque waterfront, not just once, but twice, filling the park and bay with the sweet sounds of brass, drums and cowbells.

All around the park, faces were smiling.

Many festival goers also enjoyed the eats and treats offered by vendors along the thoroughfare, feasting on down home food from "Miss Dolly's Kitchen", barbecued chicken fresh off the grill and even Bahamian style pizza!

The highlight of the evening was renowned Bahamian music artist, KB, who along with the Defence Force Pop Band entertained tourists and locals alike.

Tourism organizers say that they are now fine tuning details to make the final Saturday on Eleuthera's Junkanoo Summer Festival schedule even better.
