(Rock Sound, Eleuthera) - Police in Eleuthera are investigating a Traffic Accident that took the life of 3-year-old Kellia Brown of Rock Sound, on Friday July 16. Reports are that the child was struck by a vehicle outside her residence on William Street and succumbed to internal injuries while enroute to Accident and Emergency at the Princess Margaret Hospital via air transport.

The driver of the Ford Explorer had reportedly stopped briefly at the residence and is believed to have run over the child when she took back off in the vehicle.  Reports are that she may not have seen the child until she felt the car run over something, looked into her rear view mirror and saw the injured child lying in the road.

Little Kellia reportedly had a small abrasion to the head and was conscious but a doctor at the Rock Sound Clinic indicated she had suffered internal injuries.

The accident occurred at about 3:45 pm and within 1.5h she was on her way to Nassau but did not survive the journey.

Police say investigations are ongoing into this matter.

Hit and Run

Also on the Friday afternoon in an unrelated incident, a Rock Sound man reported to police that shortly before 5:00pm, he was walking along Williams Lane when he was hit by a white Toyota Avalon car driven by a male he knew only by a nickname. After being hit, the vehicle refused to stop.

The victim received minor injuries and was issued a Police Hospital form to seek medical attention.

Two days later police arrested two men of Wemyss Bight and Green Castle in relation to the hit and run. Phillip Whylly (20) of Green Castle reportedly admitted to being the driver. He was charged and  released on bail in the sum of $3,000.00 with one surety for court.
