Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

(Governor's Harbour Eleuthera) - Eleuthera, on Sunday January 31st at about 10:35am, suffered its first road fatality of 2010 and second in about 6 weeks. Mr. Dieter Hasckar (76) of Carlos Village, Governor's Harbour, while traveling south on Queen's Highway road near Sky Beach Resort, lost control of his white 1997 Jeep vehicle, license #T77 and collided into a wall.

He subsequently succombed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by Dr. Ajero.

The deceased was transported to the Harbour Island morgue, with plans to have his body sent on to Nassau.

A long time resident, sprightly Dieter, met with The Eleutheran in 2009 and expressed at that time his passion for Eleuthera.

He had planned to submit a letter to the paper for publication he said on the importance of "being on time".

His next of kin is Mrs. Linda Hasckar of Governor's Harbour.

I was shocked to read these bad news.
Dieter was a good friend to me and
whenever I visited Eleuthera, we spent a
lot of time together. Before I left early January this year, he want me to
make a lot of photos from him, his car
and his house. Now they are just memories. I will miss him so much. Can
anybody give me the telephone-number of
his former wife Linda? Many thanks for
any help.
