Tippy’s Restaurant, Pineapple Fields, and Eleuthera’s Rotary Club Organize a Benefit Concert

(Governors Harbour, Eleuthera - PR)--Tippy’s and Pineapple Fields sponsored a lively concert in Governor’s Harbour on the evening of January 23rd to raise money for an Eleutheran contingent who will be traveling to Haiti for relief efforts next week.

With over 200 guests, the concert was able to raise $3,000 through a cover charge and an additional $3,000 in pledges to support the Rotary Clubs of the Bahamas relief efforts that include a 2-week trip led by the Rotary Club of Eleuthera’s President Shaun Ingraham. Performers included Don Bouchat & Big Belly and The Haitian Sensations, the Queen’s Highway Band, and the Tarpum Bay United Junkanoo Group. A day after the world came together to respond to a star-studded telethon called “Hope for Haiti” Eleutherans banded together to show their support for their Caribbean neighbors.

Eleuthera, like the entire Bahamas, has close ties with Haiti and many residents have been affected by the disaster there. “As a part of the community we felt it important to contribute anyway we could," said David Barlyn from Tippy’s.

Shaun Ingraham is a trained and experienced consultant in disaster management. Shaun’s experience includes the coordination of psycho-social relief and recovery for Food for the Hungry International in Banda Ache, North Sumatra after the Indian Ocean tsunami. He has the support of the Rotary Clubs of the Bahamas, Rotary District 7020 and other major actors. Shaun is hoping to be joined by two nurses, a Creole speaking contractor from Port-au-Prince, and a trained fireman.“I see this as Eleuthera putting a face on aid,” said Shaun Ingraham. “Eleutherans have always responded to people in need and tonight shows the situation in Haiti is an issue that is close to our hearts.

”If you are interested in donating to the Rotary Club of Eleuthera support of Haiti trip please call Shaun Ingraham at 470-8880 or email shaundonavon@yahoo.com.About Tippy’s and Pineapple Fields and the Rotary Club of EleutheraRotary Club of Eleuthera is a part of Rotary International.
