Current Community To Dedicate Sir Roland Symonette Park
Tweet
(Eleuthera, Bahamas) - The Current Community has been busy preparing for the Official dedication of the community park as the Sir Roland Symonette Park in honour of the first Premier of the Bahamas, who was born in Current Eleuthera, knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and whose likeness adorns the $50.00 Bill. The official service is scheduled for December 16, 2009 at 12:30pm, to coincide with the Birthday of the Current native.
It is expected to be a "great day of celebration in Current with live music and rake and scrape with special guests including possibly the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Family, Speaker of the House and other Cabinet Ministers, according to Mr. Theo Neilly, Chairman of the Current Town Committee.
This month members of the community have been involved in a Community Clean-Up project which also involved tree planting.
Anyone wishing to travel from Nassau for the dedication event can do so at a special rate by contacting Mr. Neilly prior to November 25.
