Oldest Eleutheran laid to rest at age 107
Tweet
Jeremiah Thompson, born in Weymss Bight recently passed on at the ripe old age of 107. He lived a large part of his life in Deep Creek, where he moved after marriage. He was a legend in his own right; recognized by the government in 2006 at the age of 105 as a nation builder, and dubbed by his fellow townspeople as the ‘Gentleman of Deep Creek’.
As a farmer, Jeremiah farmed many fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, onions and pineapples, right on up until the age of about 101, when he experienced a hip injury, which hampered his movement.
Mr. Calvin Jolly, a close friend of Mr. Thompson recalls that up until his recent death, he had memory as clear as a bell. Jeremiah had the luxury in his lifetime to know at least 3 generations of his approximately 250 offspring.
Mr. Thompson’s life was celebrated and he was laid to rest in Eleuthera on May 10.
