Thomas Albury of the Bogue, Eleuthera will be installed as  the new Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus North Eleuthera Council 12692 during a ceremony scheduled for September 13 in that community.  Albury succeeds Edison Rolle who demits office after serving four successive terms as Grand Knight.

The event will take place during a special luncheon to be held at The Purple Mae Restaurant in The Bogue; conducting the installation will be the District Deputy for the Knights of Columbus in the Bahamas, Gregory Christie.  Other officers to be installed are: Philip L. Thompson, Deputy Grand Knight; David Randall, Financial Secretary; Leonard A. Thompson, Chancellor; Zaccheus E. Thompson, Recorder; Maxwell Moss, Treasurer; Anthony R. Thompson, Advocate; Thomas E. Thompson, Warden; Guards, James W. Thompson and Vincent T. Francois; and Trustees, Glen Romer, Wilfred Mackey, and George Cambridge.

Dr. Samuel Bain, President of Mastering Yourself College in Nassau will be the guest speaker for the occasion.

Mr. Albury, a native of Eleuthera only recently returned home after a period in Grand Bahama where he was instrumental in the formation and development of the Knights of Columbus Council on that island and also served as its Grand Knight 10 years ago.

“I am grateful for the support shown me by the Brothers of the North Eleuthera Council and I look forward to working with them to make the organization better known on the island for its work with the communities where there are members, and providing assistance to the families of deceased Brothers.

“Presently we have members in Catholic churches from Rock Sound in the South to St. Theresa in The Bogue.  We are busy now with a membership drive in Harbour Island and preparing our annual Back-to-School packages for needy students in our schools,” said Albury.

Activities begin with a Mass at 11:00 am at St. Theresa’s Parish and continue with the luncheon at 1:30 pm

The North Eleuthera Council of the Knights of Columbus recently played host to the bi-annual Bahamas District meeting of the Knight where representatives of the four Knights of Columbus Councils in The Bahama met to plan the beginning of the new Knights year.  In addition to the Council in North Eleuthera, in Nassau there are the Nassau Council 10415 headed by new Grand Knight Joseph Johnson; the West Nassau Council headed by Keith Roberts; and the Grand Bahama Council 10647 headed by new Grand Knight Randy Minnis.
