Alicia Gibson Relinquishes Miss Teen Eleuthera Crown - Tamara Colebrooke To Assume Reign.

After less than a week in the role of the new Miss Teen Eleuthera 2009, Alicia Gibson, has given up her crown. 

According to Tia Seyfert, of the Miss Teen Eleuthera committee, she was in contact with Ms Gibson, who was in Nassau,  on Saturday morning  July 04, in regards to her preparation for Theodore Elyett's - Miss Teen Bahamas World beauty pageant and was told that she has decided to focus on her college education and her pursuit for her degree in Law.

"It is with bittersweet emotions that I must say that she has given up her crown, which will now be worn by the 1st runner-up Tamara Colebrooke", Seyfert communicated to The Eleutheran.

Ms Gibson was quoted as saying, "It was a great experience under the Miss Teen Eleuthera committee and I wish I could continue to make this island of Eleuthera proud, but I cannot because I would like to pursue my studies."

The Miss Teen Eleuthera committee says that it understands the importance of a college education and applauds her efforts.

All prizes inclusive of the Silver Rhinestone crown, the all expense paid entry into Miss Teen Bahamas World 2009 beauty pageant, all hair, make-up and wardrobe for official appearances only, dental treatment sponsored by Eleuthera Dental Centre, a trip to a U.S destination sponsored by Continental Airlines with accommodations, transportation and a shopping spree, the $2000 scholarship, air transport sponsored by Southern Airlines for periodic travel, the fashion photo-shoot and the custom Queen sash have reportedly all been forfeited.

"We welcome our new Queen - Miss Teen Eleuthera 2009-2010 Tamara Colebrooke who too has been aware of the sacrifices she will have to make to bring home the crown, and she is prepared.

"Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the family of Alicia Gibson for their support during her short reign and we know that she will continue to strive for excellence as she is an intellectual individual", said Seyfert.
