Police Appeal for Road Users to Slow Down
Superintendent of Police, Christopher Rahming, has issued an appeal for all road users to "slow down". Speaking to The Eleutheran, Superintendent Rahming said, "The current traffic accident rate is up to 3-4 accidents per week, with a number of the incidents being persons losing control and running off of the road".
During the Easter Holiday weekend, on March 21, Eleuthera saw its’ second accident resulting in loss of life. Omar Sands, of Green Castle, succumbed to injuries after losing control of the 1997 Honda Accord he was driving, while traveling north. He traveled with a male passenger, also of Green Castle who survived the tragedy.
Pictured below is a minor traffic accident which occurred in Governor's Harbour on the afternoon of Friday, April 11th. Drivers collided at the intersection just in front of the Governor's Harbour Gospel Chapel, when one of them failed to heed a stop sign. No one appeared to be injured, but occupants of the vehicles were visibly shaken.
More details to follow from our interview with Superintendent of Police, Christopher Rahming in the April issue of The Eleutheran - scheduled to hit stands mid-month.
