Miss Alicia Gibson of The Bluff, Eleuthera was crowned Miss Teen Eleuthera 2009 in front of a capacity crowd at Worker's House in Governor’s Harbour on Saturday June 27th (Update: July 4th - Alicia Gibson reliquishes her crown) .  This was the first event being held under the organization of Mrs. Tia Seyfert and Ms. Branishka Sands.  A brief moment during the evening was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Guius Bethel, who had previously held similar pageants on the island.

For the large crowd it was an engaging affair and they exuberantly supported their favorites of the nine beautiful contestants.

Miss Tamara Colebrooke of James Cistern, and Miss Kenique Pinder of Tarpum Bay were  adjudged  first and second runners up, respectively, after all the ladies competed in Casual Wear/Introduction, Swimsuit, Evening Gown and Final Question segments.

Mrs. Seyfert expressed delight with how the evening's event unfolded, saying, "It was a tough competition, and it was very close with the top three, but I'm happy with the result."

Alicia Gibson, a recent graduate of Windermere High School and runner-up for the 2009 Junior Tourism Minister for Eleuthera competition, beamed with joy on claiming the title. She shared with The Eleutheran, that she is excited to have won and is looking forward to beginning her campaign for the improvement of medical facilities on Eleuthera, which is her chosen platform for her 2009 reign.

Tia Seyfert, the key organizer of the successful competition, also shared that the new Miss Teen Eleuthera has to hit the ground running, going into Nassau almost immediately to begin competition in the Miss Teen Bahamas World pageant, which climaxes in early August.

I THINK IT UNFAIR HOW THIS QUEEN WAS CHEATED... WHAT CAN FIFTY DOLLARS DO AND WHAT HAPPEN TO THE OTHER PRIZES... THAT'S VERY POOR ... I HOPE THE PERSON THEY CHEATED FOR MAKE IT TO THE FINAL...IN MISS TEEN BAHAMAS... BUT I KNOW MISS GIBSON IS GOING TO ENTER AND SHE WILL DO WELL .. YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD PERSON DOWN
