Eleuthera Students Share Their World With Students In USA
Joan Roehre of the Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) group of schools in Wisconsin, USA described a cutting edge series of eight iChat connections videoconferences between students in schools on Eleuthera and students in Wisconsin this morning.
Technology has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade - with the stuff of movies and science fiction becoming the norm in our homes and our schools.
Joan Roehre of the Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) group of schools in Wisconsin, USA described a cutting edge series of eight iChat connections videoconferences between students in schools on Eleuthera and students in Wisconsin this morning, February 13, 2008. According to the organizers, the children shared their experiences of snow, cracked conch, national symbols, laughs and real-world learning!

"KUSD student:
Q: What did you eat for lunch today? We had corndogs.
Bahamian student:
A: I had conch salad.
Bahamian student:
Q: What do you DO with the snow when you PLAY with it?
KUSD student:
A: We make snowballs, throw them at each other and go sledding.
KUSD student:
Q: What's the weather like where you are?
Bahamian student:
A: About 76 degrees, sunny but really windy
Bahamian student:
Q: What's your favorite sport?
KUSD student:
A: Basketball!
Bahamian student:
MINE TOO!"
