(Eleuthera, The Bahamas) - Four young girls, 10 and under participated in the 2009 Little Miss Pineapple Princess in Gregory Town at the 2009 Eleuthera Pineapple Festival. It was the second day of activities at the Standard Bearer of Homecomings within The Bahamas. Following Cycling earlier in the day and mid afternoon kids fun the Princess Pageant got started at about 8:00pm with four judges in place and a growing festival site crowd. The Crowd was a blend of Bahamians and Visitors who were all treated to a wonderful display by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force Band in the late afternoon.

The young participants, introduced themselves, and the Bahamian island they represented on their sashes, namely; Miss Eleuthera - Jovante Cartwright, Miss Cat Island - Sheniah Johnson, Miss Exuma - Vernice Elise and Miss Inagua - Renee Robinson  (names spelt phonetically, errors are possible). They performed in a talent segment, wore evening gowns, walked in swimwear and answered questions posed to them.

Eleuthera Pineapple Festival dancers entertained during segment intermissions.

Well over 2 hours after it began, the young little ones were presented with prizes and a lucky little one with the crown. Miss Johson who was adjudged Miss Amity finished second Runner Up, Miss Elise captured Miss Photogenic and Miss Popularity while finishing first runner up and Miss Robinson was crowned the 2009 Little Miss Pineapple Princess. Tears came from her young eyes as the announcement was made but she regained her poise to make her first walk.

The show was hosted by Miss Gabrielle Major, a recent contestant in the 2009 Miss Bahamas World competition.

For readers of The Eleutheran who are not familiar with this lovely festival, it is all set in a tranquil harbour, nestled between hills in the pineapple growing region of Eleuthera.  Those lucky enough to be here on Saturday, June 6th, saw a bright, full moon rise over one of those hills and were treated to Bahamian culture in music, food and energy.
