Minister of Tourism the Hon. Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, paid a visit to South Eleuthera on May 30, 2009 where, among events, he engaged recent graduates of the Preston Albury High School who were celebrating their accomplishment at Lighthouse Beach.

Speaking to students on the powdery sand of the idyllic South Eleuthera beach, the Minister congratulated the group on their graduation from High School. He encouraged the youngsters to recognize their strengths and to work hard at making them stronger. He emphasized to them the importance of determining what they see themselves as being 'very good at' and to do it at their best.

Through stories he also shared a number of life experiences with the grads, highlighting to them the importance of being prepared for opportunities that may present themselves - schooling the youths on the proven benefits of hard-work and research in pursuing their endeavors.

The graduates remained engaged throughout his talk with them and thanked him with a resounding applause. Their beach-nic was part of a series of celebratory graduation events planned through Island Journeys.

Accompanying the Minister were officials of the Eleuthera Tourism Office.

Island Journeys is a great organization whose goal is to transforms people and communities. By taking visitors to Lighthouse Beach, one of "God's best creations", the graduates, many whom probably would not ordinarily visit this spectacular site, will experience the magic of the place and appreciate the beauty and importance of the natural resources, habitats and sustainable development of the area. They would have also experienced a little bit of an inner transformation being there. Find out more about the organization: www.islandjourneys.org
