Family Islands Including Eleuthera to be featured in Promotional Video
A small team commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism (MOT) were in Eleuthera in May to compile a video montage of attractions on the island. The footage is expected to form part of a promotional film of a select number of Family Islands, which will be used to target the lucrative European Travel market. Other islands to be highlighted will include The Exumas, The Abacos, Andros, Cat Island and Long Island.
Loredana Boboli de Lama and Isabella Astengo of Duna International Ltd were the two member team who were on island to visit natural sites such as Preacher's Cave, Hatchet Bay Caves, the Glass Window Bridge, the Cliffs, Landmarks in Governor's Harbour and the Ocean Hole in Rock Sound
The promotion is set to be completed in July/August of 2009.
According to Boboli de Lama, a Nassau Resident - native of Italy, much of the Ministry of Tourism's focus has been on the US market, which she feels is a pity because [in her opinion]," in Europe, Europeans - the French, English, Spanish and Italians love to travel and they love to spend money in very nice places, so right now they go to the Seychelles or other Caribbean islands, like St. Barths.
"Of course the Bahamas is a very beautiful country and is not so far - only nine hours from London. So our film will be used as a promotional tool to invite the European to come and enjoy the beautiful life in the Bahamas."
Boboli de Lama and Astengo worked for many years with the Travel Channel, USA and European television channels including Tele Monte Carlo as well as a number of freelance projects, with some of their favorites being archaeological documentaries. Astengo lives and works in Rome, Italy while Boboli de Lama has lived in Nassau for 33 years. De Lama first arrived in the Bahamas on her honeymoon, then, after securing a second home in Nassau, she became a seasonal Winter Resident. Her second home in Nassau is now is her main residence.
