A team of new officers to lead the Eleuthera Cancer Society were elected at a recently held meeting of the organization. A good cross-section of residents attended the event, with persons from South, Central and North Eleuthera present.

The new officers are as follows:-

Juanita Pinder - President

Jacqueline Gibson - Vice President

Glenda Johnson - Secretary

Susan Culmer - Treasurer

Kathy Berner and Alison Gosling continue to lend invaluable assistance with the Mammogram Initiative and the Free Medical screenings.  Additionally, Pauline Hilton of James' Cistern will spearhead the Cancer Society Thrift Shop, which is described as a main contributor to the Society's fund raising efforts.  The Eleuthera public is being asked to donate as generously as they can to the Thrift Shop with items for this worthy cause.

According to the new president, an immediate goal of the Society is, "Getting the word out to our residents and educating our people on the disease of cancer and how we can be more proactive in our fight.  Our aim is to also get more men involved." More details on the renewed focus and goals of the Cancer Society and its' ongoing iniatives should continue to emerge.
