Fire Destroys Shopping center in Hatchet Bay
Fire has destroyed the old Harrisville Co. Shopping Center building outside of Hatchet Bay which stood on Queen's Highway.
The fire which occurred on Wednesday morning,Arpil 09, 2008, completely devastated the quaint multi colored, wooden structure, that housed several retail businesses catering to Hatchet Bay and surrounding areas.
The businesses destroyed included, CJ's Variety Store (owned by Cheryl Johnson), Body Language (a clothing store), Big General's Food Store (owned by Kenneth Wells) and Bay Liquor (owned by William Albury Jr.).
It is the second destructive blaze to hit Businesses in North Eleuthera in three days. On Monday, the North Eleuthera Shopping Center in Bluff was completely destroyed by fire. No one is believed to have been injured in any of the events.
