In announcing a first group of Ministers to join him and his deputy Prime Minister in Cabinet today, May 10th, 2012, Prime Minister Perry G. Christie also revealed that the government has engaged the former Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and former Ambassador Clifford ‘Butch’ Scavella to spearhead the setting up of a new body that will seek to more efficiently co-ordinate intelligence-gathering and joint strategic planning among the various law enforcement agencies in the country so as to ensure a more effective campaign against gun smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal immigration, poaching, and crime generally.

Mr. Clifford Scavella was born on the 21st of March, 1957 to mother, Mrs. Lyda Cambridge Scavella of Hatchet Bay and father, Mr. Leroy Scavella of Gregory Town, Eleuthera. He has previously credited his accomplishments, to be in great part due, to the influence he received from his parents and other older persons, throughout the Eleuthera community.
