TALKS CENTERED ON THE CREATION OF A WORLD CLASS TERMINAL FACILITY

VISIONAIRE MARKETING – Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Hubert A. Ingraham recently discussed the development of a modern state of the art departure terminal which will serve to facilitate passengers of Bahamas Ferries along with all passengers traveling to and from the Family Islands via sea, with top executives of the company during a meeting after the official launch of the BoHengy II. The top executives of Bahamas Ferries, led by that company’s Chairman, Craig Symonette, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at his office in the Cecil Wallace-Whitfield Building on Friday, November 14, 2008.

Symonette who was accompanied by Stuart Ballantyne, of Sea Transportation Corporation, the Designer and Builder of Bahamas Ferries’ newest vessel, The Bohengy II; Stephen Thompson, Bahamas Ferries, Chief Financial Officer; Captain Harvey Sweeting, Chief Operating Officer and Khaalis Rolle, Chief Marketing Officer requested the government’s approval and guidance for the construction of a modern state of the art first class departure lounge facility to be constructed at a central location along Bay Street.

“We can build lots of ships, but we would like to create a proper world class departure terminal,” said Symonette while speaking with Prime Minister Ingraham.

Symonette informed the Prime Minister that the present facilities at Potter’s Cay are somewhat restrictive. He committed to building the facility, which will not only accommodate Bahamas Ferries’ passengers but all persons traveling to and from the Family Islands by sea.

Symonette envisions that the facility will accommodate travelers checking in and out at the top level with the more cumbersome operations including the use of forklifts, heavy equipment, freight and the movement of vehicles taking place at the lower level.

The Prime Minister in turn informed Symonette that he would be happy to accommodate him. “It would be wonderful to have a first class departure lounge for domestic travelers,” commented Prime Minister Ingraham.

The group also discussed a number of important matters related to the ferry transportation service as well as on going developments in the Family Islands.

Pleased with the meeting, Symonette said, “The Prime Minister was very receptive and fully understands the importance of marine transport in this country, and I feel very confident that our company and others as a group in the ferry business, we will work with this administration to achieve mutually beneficial end goals.”

The meeting with the Prime Minister followed on the heels of the company’s launch of its newest state of the art vessel, The Bohengy III.
