Dunmore Beach Club - New General Manager

Ms. Malvise Bastian brings a wealth of knowledge as the New General Manager at Dunmore Beach Club in Harbour Island. Originally created to cater to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and their friends, Dunmore still boasts a private club atmosphere in 17 'ultra-private cottage accommodations'. The 8-acre property also serves as a great Destination Wedding location for both small and large weddings.

Ms Bastian, a Nassau native, has about 30 years experience in the hotel industry. The 49-year-old entered the industry right out of high school and says she "Just loves it". She is a Certified Hospitality Educator, through the American Hotel Lodging Association and has a passion for training and empowering people to excel. She worked for 10+ years in Crystal Palace, in charge of room operations where at one point the facility had up to 1500 rooms.
The atmosphere at the much more intimate Dunmore Beach Club is different, but the executive says she enjoys the personal attention that she can provide the guests and staff.

Prior to coming to Eleuthera, Ms. Bastian served as Director in charge of all rooms and operations at Old Bahama Bay in West End, Grand Bahama - the scope of which prepared her to assume her first position as General Manager, here in Harbour Island.

"The small community atmosphere in West End also prepared me well for the pace of life in Harbour Island", she explained.

This is her first time living in Eleuthera and finds one of her biggest challenges as being getting accustomed to the pace of life on the idyllic island - not so much the slowing down personally but when it comes to business she likes getting things done quickly!

"My vision for the Club is to see improvement; my focus will mostly be on empowering the staff. I can share so much of my experience with them, together we can maintain and improve the overall product of Dunmore Beach Club" she added and continued, "I'm replacing a former Manager who had been with the property forever - so I know I have big shoes to fill. It is important that our guests, many of whom are repeat customers, when they return looking for familiar faces, they get the same consistent service or an even better experience than they have had before".
