BTC set to Revolutionise 'Buying Minutes' in The Country - Instant Electronic Top-up to be unveiled.
BTC stations across Eleuthera reportedly went live on July 15 in a soft launch of the product.
BTC/Lime is about to revolutionise the prepaid phone concept in the Bahamas, by introducing a totally new way to “buy minutes” or ‘top up’!
Reliable sources have confirmed that customers will over time, say goodbye to the plastic scratch cards, as BTC/Lime plans to slowly phase them out, with the company now offering real time, instant electronic ‘top up’ at BTC stations all over the country in a soft launch of the technology.
The entire face of mobile ‘top up’ will change at all levels, as customers will be able to electronically ‘top up’ using their personal computers (PC’s), mobile phones and purchase from everyday businesses with point of sale (POS) systems, which purportedly will soon be seen at thousands of new locations all over the country.
Several merchants in Central Eleuthera have confirmed they have been introduced to the concept by personnel from the company and have had an opportunity to see how it would operate.
Added to the convenience of instant real time ‘top up’, sources say that customers can now purchase any amount of minutes for their prepaid phone between 1$ - $99; so if its $3.25 someone wants in minutes - $3.25 they can have.
The new service also spells major change and increased efficiencies for distributors and retailers, wiping out the need to hold on to risky high value card inventory, as well as getting rid of ‘bad scratch’ scenarios.
Better customer service is also being touted as an important aspect of the changes, with a simpler system that reportedly significantly cuts down on possible errors, and allows almost all BTC service representatives to assist with ‘top up’ queries.
It was said and has been confirmed that Eleuthera BTC stations in Lower Bogue, Harbour Island, Spanish Wells, Governor’s Harbour and Rock Sound went live on Friday, July 15. Reportedly, a formal launch with electronic prepaid mobile ‘top up’ available at retail merchant locations across the Bahamas is set for July 25, 2011.
This technology has been available around the world and throughout the region for many years, and is now finally available to Bahamian consumers.
This top up revolution comes on the heels of the recent announcement during the Bahamas Independence holiday weekend by BTC/Lime that mobile to mobile phone calls throughout the Bahamas are now local, effectively removing the mobile to mobile long distance fee – and scratching the need to dial 242 within the country.

Supposedly there is / was a way to have "EZ-TopUP" but I never was able to actually do that from Florida. I did once call BTC in Nassau and the very nice lady I spoke to took the number from a card I had and did a top up for me (the one time inthe last 5 yeras that I couldn't get over within an "every 3 months' deadline.
Cheers y'all. Luv da rock!
