The 24th Annual Pineapple Festival in Gregory Town, Eleuthera once again attracted many hundreds from across the islands of The Eleutheras and throughout the Bahamas.

It is a well organized event that this year saw the Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham accompany member of Parliament for North Eleuthera, Alvin Smith and Minister of Health, Hubert Minnis on the festival site on Saturday afternoon, just in time for the pineapple eating contest and other fun afternoon activities.

On Saturday morning the annual Pineapple-a-thon Sprint Triathlon (Swim-Ride-Run) attracted a record number of competitors as the event, continues to grow.  The setting could not be any better for the event, which this year, was won by Nassau's Simon Lowe, bringing an end to the dominance by the defending champion Floridian, Ken Bots.

Simon Lowe (Pineapple-a-thon Winner), greeted warmly as he passes the finish line.

On Saturday evening little Sierra Farrington was crowned Little Miss Pineapple Fest at the annual pageant which saw four brave young girls compete before a large crowd in the Gregory Town square. Organisers were impressed by the primary schoolers who had been preparing eight weeks for the event.
