Glass Window Bridge Damage

As we reported September 01, 2010, residents were warned to avoid the Glass Window Bridge because of sea swells from Hurricane Earl. While passing the bridge early in the afternoon, headed south, from Lower Bogue, a team from The Eleutheran had the amazing experience of being swamped briefly by a wave that towered over the car, half way across the bridge. The water, which seemed to come out of nowhere, rapidly climbed the cliffs, drenched the vehicle and left occupants stunned.

Today NEMA supplied photos of damaged sustained by the Bridge with what it said were 25ft swells from Hurricane Earl.
